What I've Been Up To...

This summer has brought a lot fun exciting changes. The biggest being that I got MARRIED!

Super wonderful and exciting! We went to Disney World for our honeymoon and spent the rest of the summer fixing up our apartment!

As all things do, our wonderful summer had to come to an end sometime and now school is back in full swing. I am very fortunate to work at a school I love with some absolutely amazing people so it wasn't too much of a hardship! I will be posting a classroom tour soon but right now I'm linking up with Oh Boy Fourth Grade for my September currently. Here it is!

Listening:  My husband and I share a mutual love for video games. It's his way of unwinding after a long day. Usually he plays with friends online and I sit next to him on the couch with my laptop on Pinterest or blogs. Its wonderful that we are happy just to be next to one another on our respective screens.

Loving: I was out of school yesterday and today with a nasty stomach bug. I HATE being out of school! Yes, being sick sucks but mostly because the fun lessons I have planned don't get taught! I'll be glad to be back with my kiddos tomorrow!

Thinking: While I was sick as a dog yesterday I was trying to be somewhat productive and was looking up Pre-K things on Pinterest. I think I'd really like to incorporate a word wall in my classroom. I would like to focus on adding pictures & words that begin with the letters to reinforce letter sounds all year long. The only problem is space! My room is so tiny!

Wanting: I am very much over summer. Which is a pity because fall like temperatures don't hit until late October or November in Louisiana. I can however still dream of the days when I can pull my cardigans, scarves and boots out of the closet and do simple tasks without breaking into a sweat.

Needing: Oh the couch. My foe and friend. So comfy especially when you add a husband and a cuddly pooch.

Trips: I've been dying to go to London and Versailles for years now. London because I love everything British and Versailles because I find Marie Antoinette so very fascinating! I also want to go to New York just to go and see what all the fuss is about!

Hope you have enjoyed seeing what I've been up to! Don't forget to click the link above to post your own September currently!

It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

There's something about this time of year that I just love. Ever since I was little, I loved going back to school. I loved picking out school supplies and getting a new backpack and getting back to a routine. It's still the same even though I'm a teacher. I'm thrilled when the school supplies are out on store shelves and spend time perusing the aisles. I love getting my plan book organized, getting a new lunchbox or coffee mug, getting a new teacher bag and of course getting classroom supplies!

As the summer draws to a close, I find myself getting more and more excited about the fall. I've been busy pinning and planning. I am still loving the pink, lime green and orange with touches of black theme in my room. This year I'm also doing owls so I've been having lots of fun finding cute things!

I've been preparing for my move to teaching 3s by changing up some of my classroom decorations. This year will be my 6th year of teaching so I'm kinda bored with a lot of the stuff I have from when I first taught. All I can say is thank God for Teachers Pay Teachers! I've bought some of the cutest things that I can't wait to laminate and use in my classroom!

Black and White Polka Dot Alphabet Posters with Pictures

Please note that these are in no way mine and I don't hold any claim to them other than I think they are wonderful! I just LOVE the owl color posters! Click on the pictures to go to the TPT pages.

I also plan on getting some items from Thirty-One. I've been ogling their bags for quite some time now and I think its time to take the plunge. Especially since I'll be commuting about 40 minutes each way at this new job it will be important for me to stay organized.
I love this  Large Utility Tote. I plan on getting it embroidered with my first initial in lime green thread.

Super cute right? You can click on the pictures to check them out for yourself!

Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you I am a coffee addict. I usually have at least one cup of hot coffee in the morning and sometimes have an iced coffee as an afternoon pick me up. Since pretty much all of my time is spent at school I've developed quite the collection of travel mugs and usually have at least 2 or 3 lying around my classroom at any given time. I love buying cute new mugs at the beginning of the year and this year is no exception. I've got my eye on these super adorable mugs from Target. I love the mason jar, the handle, and they have them in all 3 of my colors. Too precious!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my planned back to school purchases. Just so you know, I'm not affiliated with any of the things or getting paid or anything like that. I just wanted to share. Hope you are enjoying the last days of summer!

Summertime and the Living is Easy

I love summer. I love getting to sleep in, read books and do whatever I feel like doing. So far my summer has been filled with fun friends, good books and hanging out with these two handsome gentlemen.

It has also been filled with job searching which is never pleasant. But I am excited to say that the anxiety and resume sending have paid off. I will be teaching a PK 3 class next year!

I am so excited about working with three year olds and getting to do so many fun things! I've been pinteresting like crazy trying to prepare for the changes and challenges I will face. Its all a bit overwhelming but still very exciting!

I'm looking forward to all the fun things I will be doing this year and I can't wait to share them with you!

I'm Still Here + Freebies!

Hello all! I've been enjoying some much needed R&R time but I'm back and ready to share some of what I've been up to! The first few weeks of break were dominated by a lot of sleeping in, baking, sewing, & hours of watching my new obsession, Game of Thrones. Unfortunately it's also included many hours of jury duty which has not been as enjoyable. I'm a little over halfway finished with my 8 days so I'm thankful for that!

As of right now, I don't know a whole lot about next year so my main focus has been mostly organizing my stuff and undertaking little craft projects. I'm supposed to be having lunch with my new division team sometime soon so I'll be able to know more about the meat & potatoes of what I'll be teaching next year.

I've been wanting one of those 10 drawer carts for quite some time but I haven't been willing to drop the $70-$100 that some places charge for them. So you can imagine my delight when I found one for $30 at Walmart! When I got it home, I wasn't too impressed with the colors so I decided to use some spray paint to make the drawers match my new classroom color scheme.

 Pretty cute huh?

I'm all about affordable storage so I use copy paper boxes to store a lot of my things. I love them because I get them free from the teacher's lounge and they are nice and sturdy. What I don't love about them is that they are pretty ugly.

 See what I mean?

So as I was sitting in my apt. one night I was looking at the boxes and decided to try to use a little craft paint to make them cuter. I love the way they turned out!

I am seriously in love with how cute & organized everything is now.

So to make up for my absence, I've got some freebies for you! The first is a few line up songs and rhymes I found around the internet that I plan to use with my kiddos. I'm gonna glue these to scrapbook paper and hang them a ring by my door for line up time. The second freebie is some animal goodbye rhymes. I'm going to put these on scrapbook paper and make a poster to use at the end of the day. I hope you enjoy them!

Well, I'm off to do a bit of pinning and blog hopping while I wait to be released from jury duty for the day. Happy Tuesday everyone!

Free At Last!

So this song has been running through my mind today as I was trying to get through our last day...

Today was a little bittersweet as many last days are, but overall I'm happy that summer has finally arrived! I'm definitely ready for sleeping late, lazy mornings, craft projects, babysitting my favorite kiddos, and spending more time on Pinterest and blogging!

I've finally moved everything out of my classroom and into my apartment. This is what it looks like now. Yikes!

So as of right now I'm off eat some junk food, watch some Arrested Development and do some spray painting! I hope everyone is having a lovely start to their summer/weekend!
